Oral food immunotherapy
Oral food immunotherapy (desensitisation) is a structured, Consultant-led care plan designed to gradually increase a child’s tolerance to specific food allergens and reduce the risk of reactions from accidental exposure. At Children’s Allergy Doctors, OIT is typically started in children up to 4 years of age and may treat allergens such as peanut, tree nuts, sesame and other seeds, wheat, legumes (green pea, yellow split pea and red lentil) and pine nut, with egg and milk plans delivered separately using specialised protocols. Treatment usually takes 6–12 months to reach maintenance and includes specialist nursing and dietetic support throughout.
Care Management Fees:
Single food allergen OIT: £6,000–£9,000 (depending on number of visits required)
2 food allergens: £9,500
3 food allergens: £12,000
4 food allergens: £14,500
- Up to 4 foods can be managed simultaneously
Suitability & Education Appointment: £250 (required before starting treatment)
Sublingual food immunotherapy
Food Sublingual Immunotherapy (SLIT) is a structured, Consultant-led care plan designed to gradually increase a child’s tolerance to food allergens using very small daily doses placed under the tongue. At Children’s Allergy Doctors, SLIT is available for children aged 1–11 years and is often recommended for children older than 4 years, or for families seeking a gentler immunotherapy approach with fewer in-clinic dose escalations. Treatment is delivered under specialist paediatric allergy consultant supervision with nursing and dietetic support, and several allergens may be managed at the same time.

What parents say:
“Professor Brough is one of the finest of the profession. She is a great listener, incredibly thorough and very clear with instructions. It is reassuring to have guidance by someone who is clearly an expert in the field and so clearly passionate about providing clinical excellence to her patients.”
“I cannot put into words how amazing Childrens Allergy Doctors have been…!!!!
My son was three months old when I realised something was very wrong. Multiple trips into A&E following intense bouts of vomiting shortly after giving him formula. I was told by the doctors in A&E that he had gastroenteritis each time, twice requiring admission into hospital. Feeling in my heart it was a bit unlikely a three month old would contract gastroenteritis several times in a month, I stopped giving my son formula and brought him to Children’s Allergy Doctors who diagnosed him with the rare condition Fpies and gave me invaluable advice about how to manage the same, including a plan for weaning via their dietician Karen Wright. The clinic tested him for various allergens, and gave advice about probiotics etc. Childrens Allergy Doctors have also been absolutely amazing in helping manage my son’s eczema. It was so terrible at one point, oozing soars on his cheeks which was completely heartbreaking given we had just started weaning and so naturally, food would irritate his skin further. He now has a glowing complexion! Having been born on the 98th centile, and having dropped at one point to the 25th centile, he is now back on the 90th centile, loving food, loving life, hitting developmental milestones early, I am so blessed. My husband and I were also self-funded clients who were not working at the time as I was on mat-leave and my husband was studying, notwithstanding, we found treatment plan prices very manageable. Would highly, highly, recommend Childrens Allergy Doctors! Thank you so much Professor Brough and your whole team… thank you ❤️🙏”
