Your Child’s Allergies: Finding a Way Forward
Does your child struggle with food allergies, eczema, or asthma? I understand how overwhelming these conditions can be for both children and parents—endless sleepless nights, painful flare-ups, and the constant worry of allergic reactions.
As a mother of a child with allergies and a Consultant in Paediatric Allergy and Clinical Immunology, I’ve experienced these challenges first hand. That’s why, at Children’s Allergy Doctors, my team and I are committed to offering expert, compassionate care to help your family find a way forward.
My Experience and Approach to Care
As a Paediatric Allergy Specialist, the Founder of Children’s Allergy Doctors and a Professor at King’s College London, I have spent over two decades advancing allergy care. I am a Consultant in Paediatric Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital, one of the UK’s leading specialist centres, where I was Head of the Children’s Allergy Service from 2015 to 2023. During that time the service grew into the largest paediatric allergy centre in the UK, caring for more than 8,000 patient episodes a year. I also serve as Medical Advisor to the Natasha Allergy Research Foundation (NARF).
Over the years, I have helped thousands of families through tailored treatment plans that bring relief, reassurance, and long-term improvement.
My passion for paediatric allergy stems from personal experience. My husband has severe asthma and hay fever, and my daughter was diagnosed with eczema as a baby. I understand the frustration, sleepless nights, and emotional toll these conditions bring. These experiences strengthened my commitment to early intervention, empowering families with expert guidance and support to manage allergies effectively and minimise their health impact.
Cutting-Edge Care Backed by Research
Research is central to the care I provide. I have spent years studying how food allergies develop and progress, with a particular focus on peanut allergy in young children. My PhD research at King’s College London explored the early immune responses that lead to allergic sensitisation and how environmental factors—like early environmental exposure to food allergens and skin barrier health—can influence allergy risk. These findings have contributed to preventative strategies, including early allergen introduction for at-risk children, which I now incorporate into clinical practice.
I have co-authored several landmark studies on the prevention of food allergies, including the Learning Early About Peanut (LEAP) and Enquiring About Tolerance (EAT) studies. These pivotal studies demonstrated that early introduction of peanut and egg into a child’s diet can significantly reduce the risk of developing these food allergies, shaping global guidelines on allergy prevention.
Building on this foundation, I led the Pronuts study, a multicentre European research project. The study found that children with a sesame seed or nut allergy can safely introduce an average of nine other nuts or sesame seed into their diet. Importantly, the study showed that this approach is associated with a low rate of new nut or seed allergies over a three-year period, offering families a more hopeful outlook for dietary expansion and allergy management.
Currently, I am co-leading the Stopping Eczema and Allergy (SEAL) study, an international multicentre research initiative across the US and UK. This study investigates how early interventions in children with eczema can prevent the development of food allergies, aiming to improve early prevention strategies for at-risk children.
Additionally, I served as an investigator on ground-breaking trials at Evelina London Children’s Hospital, including oral peanut immunotherapy and peanut patch desensitisation trials. These studies are advancing our understanding of how desensitisation treatments can reduce severe allergic reactions, offering safer long-term options for children with peanut allergies.
Because I stay actively engaged with the latest advancements, your child will benefit from cutting-edge treatments designed to reduce symptoms and risks. I also contribute to the development of international best practices, having co-authored the European Eczema guidelines and other publications.

Leadership and Influence
Beyond research, I have held senior leadership roles across UK and European allergy care. I served as Deputy Medical Director at Evelina London Children’s Hospital (2019–2022), President of the Royal Society of Medicine Allergy and Immunology Section (2022–2024), and Paediatric Chair for the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI, 2019–2022), representing more than 3,000 paediatric allergists across Europe. I sit on the expert scientific board of the NIH-funded Consortium of Food Allergy Research and chair the scientific advisory committee for the NIHR Parent and Baby programme.
I have also presented to the European Parliament on food allergy legislation, food labelling, and the impact of allergy on children and families. These roles allow me to guide research priorities and shape clinical practice across Europe and beyond, so that families benefit from the latest advances in allergy care.
Achievements and Recognition
Helping families overcome these challenges has been my life’s work. That work has been recognised with:
- GA²LEN Centre of Excellence status, awarded to Children’s Allergy Doctors in 2025 — the first private medical clinic in the world to receive this accreditation
- Health Professional of the Year award from Coeliac UK
- Barry Kay Award for Excellence in Paediatric Allergy Research from the British Society for Allergy and Clinical Immunology
- Distinguished Clinician Award from the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology
- National Clinical Excellence Award, recognising sustained national impact through clinical leadership and research
- Patient-nominated excellence awards from Doctify and Top Doctors
What matters most to me, though, is families leaving the clinic feeling reassured, informed and confident about managing their child’s allergies.
What to Expect from Our Care
At Children’s Allergy Doctors, our paediatric allergists provide child-centred consultations that allow plenty of time to discuss your concerns and fully address your questions. We have extended our new appointment times to 45 minutes instead of 30 minutes that most care providers offer.
After each visit, you’ll receive a comprehensive consultation letter within 24 hours, summarising everything we covered and providing you with a roadmap for managing your child’s condition at home.
After your clinic appointment, we continue to care and provide rapid responses for any queries you may have including on the weekend and bank holiday for urgent queries. We also run a free nursing helpline from 9am to 3pm on weekdays.
You can expect a holistic approach from our paediatric allergy service that combines the latest research, clinical expertise, and compassionate care.
My Paediatric Allergy Specialist Training
My specialist training took me through the UK’s leading paediatric hospitals, including Guy’s and St Thomas’, Great Ormond Street Hospital and King’s College Hospital. I studied medicine at King’s College, Cambridge, and the Royal Free & University College London Medical School.
I hold dual accreditation in General Paediatrics and Paediatric Allergy, European Paediatric Allergist certification, an MSc in Allergy with distinction from the University of Southampton, and a PhD from King’s College London.
